Last updated: April 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Driving Test Routes UK ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application or visit our website at drivingtestroutesuk.com.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Purchase Information: When you make in-app purchases, we collect transaction data through Apple's App Store or Google Play Store, including transaction IDs and subscription status.
  • User-Generated Content: Notes and progress data you add to routes are stored locally on your device.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for technical support and analytics purposes.
  • Location Data: If you grant permission, we access your location to show nearby test centers and calculate distances. Location data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
  • App Usage Data: Firebase Analytics (Google) collects anonymised usage data in the app, including screens viewed, features used, and session information, to help us understand how the app is being used and improve it.
  • Crash and Error Reports: Sentry collects crash reports and error diagnostics from the app, including stack traces, device model, OS version, and app version. This data is used solely to identify and fix stability issues.
  • Website Analytics: When you visit our website and accept cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects information such as pages visited, time on site, and how you arrived at the site. This helps us understand website traffic and improve the user experience. Vercel Analytics also collects anonymised performance and traffic data independently of your cookie choice.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the app's functionality
  • Process and validate in-app purchases and subscriptions
  • Show you nearby test centers based on your location (if permitted)
  • Monitor app stability and diagnose crashes and errors
  • Analyse app and website usage patterns to improve performance and user experience
  • Provide customer support
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Test center data, routes, your progress, and notes are stored locally on your device using encrypted SQLite databases with AES-256 encryption.
  • Cloud Storage: Subscription and purchase data is stored securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database) to validate and sync your subscription status across devices.
  • Third-Party Services: Analytics and error data is processed and stored by Google (Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics 4) and Sentry on their respective infrastructure, which may include servers in the United States and Europe.
  • Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure API communication (HTTPS), and regular security updates.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • Apple/Google: Payment processing and subscription management through their respective app stores.

  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

5. Analytics, Cookies, and Tracking

5.1 Website Cookies

Our website uses cookies only with your explicit consent. When you visit the site, a cookie banner will ask for your preference:

  • If you accept: Google Analytics 4 cookies are set to track page views and interactions (such as app download clicks). Your choice is saved in your browser so you are not asked again.
  • If you decline: No Google Analytics cookies are set. Vercel Analytics still collects anonymised, cookie-free performance data that cannot identify you.

You can change your cookie preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for drivingtestroutesuk.com, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.

5.2 App Analytics

The mobile app uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymised usage data. No cookies are used in the app. You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising ID via your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking; Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads).

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Location Permissions: You can control location access in your device settings at any time.
  • Cookie Consent: You can withdraw consent for Google Analytics cookies on our website at any time by clearing local storage for the site (the consent banner will reappear on your next visit).
  • Data Deletion: You can delete your local data by uninstalling the app. For subscription data deletion, contact us at the email below.
  • Subscription Management: Manage your subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account.
